By 1752 when the English speaking world adopted the modern Gregorian Calendar there was an eleven day discrepancy between the Julian Calendar and the Gregorian Calendar. To maintain a certain consistency with the calendar, dates prior to 1752 have been converted and entered as Gregorian Dates.
Thus a date entered in the original records as say, 12th month, 12 day, 1750 has been converted to the Gregorian date of February 23, 1751.
For background on the calendars and the problem of the "Quaker system" of numbering the months see the article on "The Julian Calendar and Quaker Dating". The idea behind this database to encourage communication with others who are interested in the genealogy of the families represented here. As time permits, our sources will be posted to this website and made available to those willing to share their information with us.
