Dr. Albert Leroy Test, 841 Eighth St., retired Portsmouth physician, died at 7 a.m. today in Portsmouth General Hospital. He was 97.
He had been a patient at the hospital since May 18, 1959.
Dr. Test, who located here in 1902, was one of the founders of the hospital and practiced medicine in Portsmouth with offices at the Eighth St. address for about 45 years.
He was graduated from a Louisville, Ky., medical school in 1897 and moved to Portsmouth after practicing several years in Kentucky. His office first was located in a house at Third and Bond Sts.
He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and the Portsmouth Aurora Lodge of Masons.
Dr. Test was born April 2, 1864, at Mt. Orab, a son of Leroy and Dorcas Whitman Test. He was the last of a family of seven children.
Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Walter Dickey, 1118 22nd St., Mrs Jennie West of Belfast and Mrs. Jennie Greenley of near Cincinnati; six nephews, John, Ernest and Henry Dickey, all of Hillsboro, Leroy McClure of Cherry Fork, Bramwell test of Canada and Walter Test of Washington, D.C.
Dr. Test was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters and his wife, Mrs. Ora MacEachron Test.
Funeral services are to be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Daehler Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde C. Pinnell officiating. Burial is to be at Belfast in Highland County.
