Zaccheus Test and his wife Drusilla Langstaff Test

These ambrotypes were probably taken in Salem, Ohio in the 1860's.

Zaccheus was 34 years old in 1860 and Drusilla was 29.

Ambrotypes are glass plates supporting a collodion image. By 1860 daguerreotypes had been replaced by this process. The pictures here are mounted in a small wooden and leather case with a glass cover on the front.

The picture of Drusilla is in poor condition. The image itself is fine but the black backing on the glass is flaking off. This is a common problem with ambryotypes.
